18 MONTH & UP DANCE & TUMBLE PRESCHOOL COMBINATION CLASS – Our popular Ballet/Tap combo class offers students two classic styles of dance in just one class! Each class begins with learning some fun rhythms of tap dancing and then transitions into practicing the essential fundamentals of ballet including learning the French terminology. The Jazz/Hip Hop (only offered to 4 Year & K5) combo class starts with a Jazz technique warmup and combinations and transitions into basic hip hop moves. Our experienced instructors ensure this class is fun-filled and age–appropriate from start to finish. The combination class is ideal for the younger children, because they have shorter attention spans. Preschool students pay attention better and learn more without the distraction of visitors. Observation Day is held for family members of the preschool students on a Saturday in January. If a child is having separation anxiety, we will work with the parents to make that transition as smooth and easy as possible. Most children are fine within a few minutes of their parents leaving. We will notify parents if anyone is not having fun once dance class has started!
PRESCHOOL TUMBLE CLASS – This action-packed class teaches the basics of floor tumbling including forward rolls, back bends, cartwheels and fundamental acrobatic strengthening and coordination skills. Our experienced instructors ensure optimal safety for all our tumblers. This class does not participate in the recital.
MOMMY AND ME TUMBLE AND DANCE (12 Months-3 Years) – This is an Intro Class to Dance, Tumble, and Creative Movement! A great way for little ones to gain exposure in a comfortable setting with Mommy or any other family members or babysitters!
BALLET CLASS (1ST-12TH Grades) – Ballet is a more graceful and disciplined dance form. It focuses on stature, grace, and poise. Most ballet is learned to classical music, but the recital music for ballet is not always classical.
POINTE CLASS (6TH -12TH Grades) – Pointe students must take Ballet or Lyrical in order to take Pointe. To make sure the dancer is strong enough for pointe, please consult with Ms. Hunter.
JAZZ CLASS (1ST-12TH Grades) – Jazz is a more energized and fun dance form. There is a lot of technique involved in jazz, but it is not as disciplined as ballet. Jazz is done to faster, more popular music.
TAP CLASS (1ST-5TH Grades) – Tap uses a lot of fast and fancy footwork (especially for the older students). Tap can be learned to Broadway or popular music.
LYRICAL/MODERN (6TH-12TH Grades) – Lyrical/Modern is a fusion of ballet, jazz, and modern using motion to interpret music. It is a graceful and fluid movement to contemporary music.
HIP HOP (1ST-12TH Grades) – Hip hop is a jazz style of dance combined with several styles of hip dance. It is very energetic and fast and is taught to “edited and clean versions” of hip hop music.
ELITE CLASSES – Elite Dance Students must be in the 6-12 Grades and are only allowed 4 absences/year and must be serious about dance. Elite students must be approved upon registration to be put in Elite Classes. Some students may not be ready for those classes, but we will offer suggestions to help them progress to that level. Elite Dance Students must wear proper dance wear to ALL Elite Classes. There is not an Elite Hip Hop Class because Hip Hop does not require as much technique.
TUMBLE:
Preschool and K5 Tumble: Hunter’s Dance offers 30 and 45 minute tumble classes for students ages 18 month – 6 Years. Most tumble classes can be combined back to back with a 45 minute dance class for 18 month – 6 Year Olds. Check the schedule if you would like a Dance/Tumble Combination on the same day. This class goes through mid-May ending with a Tumble Observation Class and Awards Ceremony!
K5-13 Year Old Tumble: These classes are 45 minutes long. Tumble Classes are different from dance classes because students work on their individual skill levels at each station. Even though it is a group class, the tumble students spend time working individually on the skills they are each trying to accomplish! This class goes through mid-May ending with a Tumble Observation Class and Awards Ceremony!
Tumble Teams: Students who accomplish a certain amount of tumble skills will be invited to join the Pre-Tumble Team or Tumble Team A,B,C,D, E, Competitive Elite Junior, and Competitive Elite Tumble Teams. The Pre-Tumble and Tumble Teams are required to attend certain clinics during the summer. Tumble Teams perform in the Annual Dance Recitals. Tumble Team C, Tumble Team D, Competitive Elite Junior and Competitive Elite Tumble Teams compete in competitions.
